Current projects
Ambient Networks
Ambient Network is
an Integrated Project within the EU 6th Framework Programme.
The project is coordinated by Ericsson and involves 45 partners from
operators, vendors, and research organisations.
The overall purpose of the project is to build a new architecture for
mobile networks beyond that of 3G.
Part of the work on network management in Ambient Networks
we investigate traffic engineering mechanisms
that can handle traffic load dynamics in scenarios with sudden changes
in traffic demand and dynamically distribute traffic to benefit from
available resources.
E-NEXT
Under the EU's 6th Framework program, one collaborative initiative
brings industry and universities together in a
"Network of Excellence".
E-NEXT is a
Network of Excellence that focuses on
Internet protocols and services and includes task forces on
traffic measurements and traffic engineering.
Part of the traffic engineering task force
there is an initiative to integrate traffic engineering
methods from the different partners into an open source
traffic engineering
toolbox.
EvaluNet
The goal of the
EvaluNet project is
to develop efficient and accurate methods and tools for
network performance measurements.
EvaluNet is a collaboration between
Mälardalen University,
SICS and several industrial
partners.
The research includes investigation of
how to speed up active path measurements,
methods for traffic matrix estimation and network tomography,
as well as studies of predictability and temporal properties
of network traffic
Winternet
Winternet
is a research programme funded by the
Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research and it is a
collaboration between SICS, Uppsala University,
Luleå University of Technology and the Royal Institute of Technology.
Part of the subproject on
Scalable and robust routing we here investigate
load-sensitive routing over multiple paths. This includes
study of the dynamics of traffic flows and traffic matrix elements
and their impact on the design of robust traffic-aware routing.
Past projects
IPLDOPT
The focus of the IPLDOPT
project was to investigate how optimisation techniques can be applied
to IP-networks in order to better utilise network resources and to
avoid congestion by balancing load over several paths.
