Dive 3.2 for HPUX 10.X platforms

1. Software requirements

"vishnu", the default Dive viewer, uses the MesaGL graphic library for rendering. The library is statically linked in its version 2.3. MesaGL does not require any specific 3D Hardware, thus its performance is directly related to CPU and X server performance. When running the Dive viewer, reducing the size of the rendering window and/or rendering in "Wireframe" mode will increase the frame rate.

All the binaries and libraries were compiled on HPUX 10.10, however they should run on any 10.X machine. It is recommended that your kernel has support for IP multicasting.

2. Fetching binaries

Follow these steps to fetch and try Dive 3.2:
  1. Fetch the 3.2 binary release by anonymous ftp.

  2. Full Dive 3.2 binary distribution (4.7 M).
  3. Place the distribution file(s) dive3.2.hpux.tar.gz in a suitable directory.
  4. Follow the installation instructions to install and start Dive.
You might also want to follow a tutorial, or check the manual.

3. Linking your own code.

If you want to compile your own application or link the Dive libs with other packages, you can bring over the files containing makefiles, libs, include files and application source code:
  1. Install the 3.2 binaries and data files, see above.
  2. Fetch the include files, application source, libraries and makefiles (1 M).
  3. Place the distribution file dive3.2.hpux.full.tar.gz in the same directory as the binaries.
  4. Follow the same procedure to uncompress and untar the code as the binaries above. The new files will be merged in the same directory structure as the binaries.
  5. Fetch the Dive companion libraries and binaries  (3.5 M).
  6. Place these libraries and include files in a suitable directory, you will need them to be able to link your own applications.
  7. You should now be able to make your own applications, or relink the binaries in the appl directory, more information can be found in the instructions for building your own application. (You will have to make changes to the makefile GNUmakefile according to your local system.)

Dive  is a research prototype and is therefore provided on an `as is' basis with no provisions for support or future enhancements. Please send bug reports to dive-bugs@sics.se and questions to dive-help@sics.se.
