Software
An important characteristic of our research is that we are looking at an integrated approach.
While much of our research is directed to novel features for high-level mechanisms for efficient
and ease of distribution, fault-tolerance, scalability, and so on this is always in the context
of a general-purpose programming platform. The platform should meet state-of-art requirements as
regards the more conventional programming tools, concepts and methodologies as well. These qualities
should not be sacrificed in the search for new features however useful in their given context.
Care needs to be taken that novel and new features are integrated seamlessly into the programming
environment with as little increase of complexity as possible. It is important for us to follow
developments elsewhere in the development of programming languages, tools and paradigms and continuously
work to ensure that the Mozart platform remains a state-of-the-art general-purpose programming system.
