Nostalgia for an age yet to come Total Recall: The Movie By Lars Erik Holmquist, presented at CHI 2003, Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA, April 10, 2003. The following presentation was given at CHI 2003 in the CHI Fringe session. The presentations were chosen based on voting at the CHI Place online forum. We entered Total Recall, a system for displaying whiteboard drawings... but rather than talking about that, I took the opportunity to give a talk about what I think is wrong with CHI - and what we might do about it! I do think that the CHI community is in serious trouble. Unless something changes, we may look back at CHI 2003 as not one of those small CHI conferences before the economy bounced back again, but as one of the last of the big CHIs before the field became completely irrelevant.
