MobiTip Download and Installation Guide
Sorry, it's only implemented for the SonyEricsson P900.
To use MobiTip on your P900 phone, do the following:
1. First, you need to register as a MobiTip user. You may have arrived at this download page as the final step of the registration, but if not,
Upon complete registration, an automatically generated message
containing installation ID and code will be sent to you by email. Make sure
to have that at hand when you start the service on your P900 for the
first time!
2. You are now ready to install MobiTip on your phone (follow the instructions below):
2.2 Install the mobitip.SIS file on your phone. For Windows users the simplest way to do this is to dock your P900 and then click the sis file. For Linux users the file has to be transferred over Bluetooth. Alternatively, you may browse to this location using the web browser on your phone and download the file from there using GPRS.
2.3 Open the phone's File Manager (Swedish "Hantera Filer") and browse to Internal\Document\Unfiled. In that directory you should now see three files: MobiTip.jad, MobiTip.jar, and sics.cer.
2.4 In order for MobiTip to automatically exchange information with
hotspots and other MobiTip devices it needs to have permissions to do
so. Before doing anything else you therefore have to install the
MobiTip certificate by clicking the file sics.cer. Follow instructions
on the phone and install the certificate on the device.
Note. If for any reason the certificate does not install, the
firmware on your phone is probably outdated. In that event please
contact us for further instructions.
2.5 Once the certificate is in place, click the MobiTip.jad file to install the MobiTip service. The installation will take up to a minute.
3 A new choice, MobiTip, should now appear in the Applications window.
3.1 Turn on Bluetooth and set your phone to be "visible to other devices" under Control panel->Connections->Bluetooth.
3.2 Start the application. The first time you start MobiTip you have to fill in your login information, ID and installation code as provided in the registration confirmation email.
3.2 A good idea is now to synchronize your phone with the central
MobiTip server (especially after a re-install). In the application on
the phone, click the "MobiTip" menu and select "Synch". The phone will
now try to get in contact with the server over the Internet. If it is
docked to a Windows computer with an open Internet connection, that
connection will be used. If not, the synchronization will use the GPRS
channel. Once synchronization is complete the text "New Tips" should
appear at the top of MobiTip's main window.
4 You are done! However, we urge you to read
the list of known issues before starting to
use the MobiTip service. And don't forget to synchronize your phone
from time to time, thereby getting new tips and flushing the log file.
5 The source code is available on
request.

Uninstall
If you wish to uninstall MobiTip click the "Applications" menu in your phone's application window. First you uninstall MobiTip and then the MobiTipFileInstaller. You probably also want to remove the certificate. Select Control Panel -> Other -> Certificate manager -> Certificate Authority, find the certificate (should be listed under Swedish Institute unless you changed that when installing it) and delete it. Don't forget to quit MobiTip first!
