Quintus Flex

Flex is an expert system toolkit that offers forward chaining, frame-based hierarchies and an English-like rule language, on top of Prolog's standard backward-chaining and AI capabilities.

Flex's English-like Knowledge Specification Language (KSL) is easy to program and easy to read. KSL can define rules, frames and procedures. It enables developers to write simple and concise statements about the expert's world that can be understood and maintained by non-programmers.

Features

  • Rule sets and rule-agenda manipulation for improved performance
  • Confidence propagation and explanation facilities
  • English-like Knowledge Specification Language
  • Full access to underlying Prolog
  • Frame-based hierarchy with inheritance
  • Daemons, constraints, and watchdogs on slots and frames

Benefits

  • Increased productivity for both traditional programming and expert systems development
  • Flexibility to address a broad range of applications
  • Wide choice of platforms for both development and delivery
