Background
My name is Fredrik Olsson and I'm with the userware lab at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS). I have a PhD from the Department of Swedish at Göteborg University slash the Graduate School of Language Technology (GSLT).
Before joining SICS for my master's thesis in april 1997, I was a student at the educational programme in language engineering at Uppsala university. I became a full-time member of HUMLE in february 1998, and have since then worked with the issues of reusing language resources, the design and development of an open architecture for information refinement, and more recently, in the area of active machine learning for named entity annotation of corpora.
I defended my licentiate of philosophy thesis entitled Requirements and Design Considerations for an Open and General Architecture for Information Refinement on March 13, 2002, in Uppsala.
On December 19, 2008, I defended my Phd thesis entitled Bootstrapping Named Entity Annotation by Means of Active Machine Learning: A method for creating corpora in Gothenburg.
