Research programmes of the European Union and Swedish agencies create opportunities for collaboration between SICS and small and midsized enterprises (SMEs). The incentive is to strengthen the European and national economies by knowledge and technology transfer to growing companies. SICS contribution can be significant when the competence offered by SICS complements the key competence of a small technology based company, as in the case of Jaczone AB, as certified by Agneta Jacobsson, founder and President: (In Swedish.)" Dagens utvecklingsprocesser är i de bästa fall omfattande, men mycket statiska. Ett antal prototyper byggdes under två intensiva månader av tre personer från Jaczone och två personer från SICS. Dessa prototyper används som ett 'proof-of-concept' av den produktidé som är Jaczone's vision och grunden till företagets bildande. Resultatet av arbetet var mycket positivt vilket har medfört att vi beslutade gå vidare med SICS medverkan under september i form av ett uppdragsprojekt. Kombinationen av den kompetens som utvecklarna på Jaczone har (i objektorienterade systemutvecklingsprocesser och UML) och SICS kompetens (inom regelbaserade system, distributerade system och knowledge management) har varit enormt värdefull."
