Uppsala VINN Excellence Center for Wireless Sensor Networks

Uppsala VINN Excellence Center for Wireless Sensor Networks (WISENET) is a VINN Excellence Center at Uppsala Universtity. SICS takes an active role in the center as an academic partner and member of the center executive board.

Communication Networks and Systems Lab (NETS)

The NETS lab is actively participating in two "clusters" in the Wisenet program: one focused on energy in sensor networks and one looking at applications in the transport sector.

In the energy area, we are looking at mechanisms for scheduling transmissions in sensor networks to maximize time spent in low-power sleep modes and minimize energy wasted in channel access and contention.

In the transport area, we participate with Banverket (the Swedish Rail Authority) and other partners in studying sensor networking applications in the transport sector.
