"Far better an approximate answer to the right question, which is often vague, than an exact answer to the wrong question, which can always be made precise." - John W. Tukey, 1962. Adam Dunkels (Ph D), experimental computer scientist in the Computer Systems Laboratory of the Swedish Institute of Computer Science, Kista, Sweden. Founder and senior scientist of the Networked Embedded Systems group, My research interests are system software and low-power IP networking for small embedded systems and wireless sensor networks. I've written some well-known software for networked embedded systems that is used in lots of interesting places such as satellites, air planes, racing car engines, oil bore holes, cargo ships, TV-transmission equipment, and in products from hundreds of companies, including ABB, Altera, BMW, Cisco, Ericsson, GE, HP, Xilinx, etc.
Some recent talks. New book: Interconnecting Smart Object with IP - The Next Internet, by Jean-Philippe Vasseur and Adam Dunkels, published by Morgan Kaufmann, 2010. To be published in June 2010. Available for preorder from Amazon.com. Website: TheNextInternet.org. In 2009, I was listed as one of the TR35 top 35 innovators under 35 by the MIT Technology Review. In 2008, I received the Xerox Chester Carlson award, for my work on IP networking for embedded systems, the 2008 ACM SIGOPS EuroSys Roger Needham award for the best 2007 European doctoral thesis in computer systems, and the 2008 ERCIM Cor Baayen award.
