Audio conferencing in DIVE

I integrated teleconferencing facilities into the DIVE system. The aim is that one should be able to automatically speak and hear with the virtual persons he is passing by. Telephones, radios, virtual microphones, conference tables may also exist, as may be seen in the following picture gallery.

Audio and video communication was already the subject of my thesis work. More (old) information can be found in the following reports.

The implementation resulting of my Thesis Work had a major weak point: it was requesting too many processes running on the different machines. We are currently experimenting some new ideas.

Other points of interest

More generally, I am trying to increase the number of communication mediums between the DIVE participants. The current system is indeed essentially visual and is lacking audio and video, but also some other simple things such as textual messages.
