"The purpose of abstraction is not to be vague,
but to create a new semantic level in which one can be absolutely precise"

E. W. Dijkstra - from the Humble Programmer, 1972.
(Read also another interesting article about abstraction).

I am an Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano, Italy and a Senior Researcher at
SICS Swedish ICT. My research is about designing, building, and validating
networked embedded software to power the operation of cyberphysical systems, the "Internet of Things", wireless sensor networks, and drone sensor networks! I try not just to talk and to write about these systems, but also to build and deploy them!

Students and Collaborators

If you are interested in researching the embedded systems of the future and have a passion for making things concrete and not just on paper, drop me a line. Several thesis topics both at M.Sc. and Ph.D level, as well as smaller projects are available around these themes!

I have the pleasure to work with a number of smart people right now:
