Dr. Zoran Radovic, Oracle, is replacing Rick Hetherington as a speaker.
General purpose processor cores are old and in the way
Due to copywright the presentation and video of Zoran´s talk will not appear here
This talk will focus on the plateau we have reached with speed and throughput of the ‘now’ traditional threaded core design. With little opportunity for cores to meet the growing demands of contemporary computing, processor architects are inventing numerous methods for delivering performance through specialized acceleration techniques. I will touch on acceleration of analytics, machine learning, the notion that ‘memory’ is the computer, HW libraries and question whether this HW trend is cloud compatible.
