Grand opening of Zegache exhibition at Casa Lamm, Mexico City

29 November, 2009 - 20:42

On Tuesday 6 pm, the exhibition "Zegache" opens at the gallery Casa Lamm in Mexico City. As part of the exhibition, Performing Pictures collaborative installation Movimiento no.7: Aparecer (Movement no. 7: To Appear) will be exhibited. In a series of crafted venerative artifacts Performing Pictures takes on the Holy Ones. We call them devotional objects or responsive video-shrines for acontemporary practice in a timeless world. After concluding the first section of the series, a motion portrait of St. Christopher —he who carries the little child over troubled waters, Performing Pictures went further on to an even greater challenge: The Lady of Guadalupe's appearance for Juan Diego on the hills of Tepeyac. The installation is the first in a series of venerative artifacts produced as part of the project Transformaciones - an artistic collaboration between the artist collective Performing Pictures, Proyecto Zegache and La Curtiduria. In the project, media art, traditional crafts and cultural heritage are merged into new art works, as the mutual exchange of knowledge creates new contexts. For the Transformaciones project, Performing Pictures has grown to a collective encompassing - in addition to Geska Helena and Robert Brecevic - artist Victor Hugo Mondragon Franco and costume designer Malena Brecevic.Casa LammOpening 1st of December 6 pmÁlvaro Obregón No. 99 Col.
