Norrköping The Sustainable city - a collaboration between Linköping University, Interactive Institute C-Studio and E.ON has been granted 8 MSEK by the regional development foundation in Norrköping (Norrköpings Utvecklingsstiftelse).Interactive Institute C-Studio will now during 2010-2013 work together with Linköping University and E.ON in a research programme focusing on developing sustainable cities. In this four-year project the research team will focus on three important thematic areas for sustainable development: work, living and mobility, these thematic areas will be combined with studies on ongoing development processes in the city of Norrköping:
- The development of the area Södra Butängen, an old industrial area that will be transformed to a sustainable district by introducing new types of environmental friendly technical infrastructure.
- The Development of the Industrial area Händelö. How can we create Eco-Industrial parks by introducing industrial symbiosis?
- Mobility, how can electricity and bio fuels be used in future transport systems to minimize the environmental and climate impact.
Within the project the Interactive Institute C-Studio will with help of simulation and visualisation develop new methods for science communication.Press release (In Swedish): "Hållbar stadsutveckling i Norrköping" - 2009-11-17Fore more information please contact Thomas Rydell.
