Professor Jakob Axelsson Director of new Software and Systems Engineering group at SICS

Jakob Axelsson, Professor at Mälardalen University and Program Manager at Volvo, has been appointed Director of Software and Systems Engineering Research at SICS in Kista. Jakob Axelsson is a Professor in Computer Science.

Before joining SICS, he has, for almost 10 years, also been working for Volvo Car Corporation in Göteborg, where he was a program manager for research and advanced engineering within the electrical and electronic systems area.

In this role, he was responsible for a large number of technology development projects in areas such as sensors for active and passive safety systems, human-machine interaction, infotainment, comfort functions, and system architecture. He is also a certified 6 Sigma Black Belt. Before joining Volvo Cars, he has been working for ABB, Volvo Technology, and Carlstedt Research & Technology.At SICS, Jakob Axelsson is establishing a new research direction within software and systems engineering, primarily aiming at helping Swedish industry with development of large and complex software-based systems. Research topics will include process improvement, new methods and tools, architecting, and management.
