MySQL Cluster is an open-source distributed database, developed
originally at Ericsson and bought by MySQL in 2003. It is a primarily in-memory database, designed to provide low-latency
access to data and high availability.
Telecom companies typically use MySQL Cluster for subscriber-based
applications, but it is being widely adopted in other domains. In this presentation we give an introduction of MySQL Cluster and
discuss its architecture and how it is used in the industry today. We
will also look into some of the HA features, which are designed to
accommodate a system running on commodity hardware without a single
point of failure, by looking at the most central protocols used within
MySQL Cluster.
