Energy-efficient Networks

The design of networks and network systems is critical to support the expected traffic growth, new applications and new services for future communication networks. As the awareness increases of the effects of unsustainable energy consumption, it is time to consider how networking can be made green.

To comply with international goals and objectives regarding energy conservation, we need to rethink the ways in which communication infrastructures are designed and operated. Our idea is to design and implement infrastructure support for energy-efficient networking in terms of a novel energy control system enabling network control and management decisions to be made taking energy-related parameters into consideration.

This preparatory project is a collaboration between SICS and KTH and also include cooperation with the chinese universities Tsinghua and HUST.
